Helping the Elderly

Some families in the poorest villages cannot afford to look after and feed their elderly.  In our programme financial aid, clothes and healthcare are provided to them.  In addition free meals are given to those who need it from our kitchen which also provides the food for the children in the schools.  For those who need accommodation we provide a room in our "Avvai Home for the Aged". The average cost of supporting an elderly person is  Rs. 400 per month.

Case study

I am Seeni Mohammed, 65 years old, from Vinoba Nagar village. I lost my wife 15 years ago. I became weak and sick after her death. I was struggling hard for my day to day survival. My only son abandoned me in my old age. Having no means of support I was living a miserable life in abject poverty. On hearing about my misery RTU came forward to assist me under its OAP scheme. It offered me daily food from its master kitchen and weekly monetary assistance. I am living in a house constructed by RTU long before. Thanks to RTU I am living a contented life.
